Anatomy of a Logo

First impressions are very important to businesses and usually that first experience is the graphical representation of what they want to be remembered by and that image can  invoke a connection to their audiences that can be everlasting!

Take, for instance the Chevy emblem. That shape alone conveys strength and quality – Like a Rock. The big red K for K-mart? Known throughout my area at a just a glance.

Brand – The perceived emotional corporate image as a whole.
Identity– The visual aspects that form part of the overall brand.
Logo – A logo identifies a business in its simplest form via the use of a mark or icon.

For example, let’s say Wal-Mart is a brand and their products are their  identity.  The logo would be the visual icon on their shopping bags, signage and building. It’s a symbol we have all become acquainted with – we now by looking at the logo the identity of that brand.

Logos are the most basic representation of the brand and they must be simple, memorableversatile and appropriate. That’s where I step in – continue to the next page for some information oh how to get your brand out there and the options that are available.
